Over the years my mum has collected recipes from magazines and websites or handwritten recipes from her friends…and what a shame that all of those are scattered in one big drawer in the kitchen. When you decide to make tiramisu and you are hoping to find a recipe in there…you spent more time searching for it then actually making the dessert.

The idea originally came from thinking of what to buy for mum’s birthday this year…or what to make. Since I’ve already had experiences in making notebooks and other stuff from paper, I was eager to make something with a purpose and goal- to write down and collect recipes that causes some heavy drooling and you will grown even more fond of them in the future.

I took this task very seriously, because I can really complicate around things until they turn out exactly as I pictured them in my mind. I started with sketches for covers of five chapters, I divided the cookbook into- 1 The Starters; 2 Meat and Fish; 3 Main Dishes; 4 Stores and 5 Deserts. When I drew them with pencil, I continued processing them in computer programme. I did the same with tabs for each chapter and cookbook cover, which is on this photographs in slovene language and it means: COOKBOOK, collect recipes, collect pounds. I made fascicle of papers for each chapter and then I sew them together by using professional binding with thread and wider ribbons for attachment onto the book covers (as seen in one picture below). The cover was made separately from cardboard, so that the whole effect of notebook is firm and solid.

My mum was excited about the cookbook (a little less about the caption on frontcover), but since she is a woman and has female needs, we also bought her a beautiful necklace to cuddle her a little and my boyfriend baked delicious dessert and provided first recipe to tape it into the new cookbook.

Cookbook is new addition to my Papergoods and it is available for anyone who likes to cook and would like to have his recipes well stored; or it is a great idea for a birthday present. Please contact me on email majardesign@gmail.com if you want to get your hands on it or just to ask about the price (it is very available, I promise).
